New Maharashtra, Mumbai police chiefs announced

MUMBAI - Maharashtra’s senior most Indian Police Service (IPS) officer Ajit Parasnis was appointed the new director general of police (DGP) while Arup Patnaik was named the new police commissioner for Mumbai, official sources said here Monday.

Parasnis replaces DGP D. Sivanandhan, who attained superannuation Monday while Patnaik replaces Sanjeev Dayal, who has been promoted as director general of Maharashtra State Police Housing and Welfare Corporation.

With the two new key appointments announced, it is expected that the Maharashtra home department may effect another round of reshuffle in the state police
