Abu Dhabi, Jan 20 (IANS/WAM) The Abu Dhabi authority will set up a health screening centre for foreign nationals applying for renewal of their residence visa in the emirate.

The Mubadala Healthcare Thursday announced plans to open the new medical facility in the first quarter of 2011 to conduct screening for infectious diseases for expatriates.

The Capital Health Screening Centre will be located at Al Jazira Sports Stadium on Muroor Road - less than five minutes’ drive from the Department of Immigration on Al Saada Street.

The facility will have the capacity to screen up to 300 visa applicants per day.

The Centre will be operated by Singapore’s AsiaMedic Limited, which is already working in partnership with Mubadala to establish a wellness and diagnostic centre in Abu Dhabi next year.

Suhail Al Ansari, Head of Mubadala Healthcare, said: “We aim to deliver a world-class facility that welcomes newcomers to Abu Dhabi and helps to ensure that our working community remains safe and healthy, which we believe is vital to the region’s continued growth and prosperity.”
