NEW DELHI - In a setback to veteran Congress leader N.D. Tiwari in a paternity suit, the Delhi High Court Thursday directed him to undergo DNA test to ascertain the claim of a man that Tiwari is his biological father.

Rejecting Tiwari’s plea that court could not direct him to undergo DNA test, Justice S. Ravindra Bhat said that there was need for him to give blood samples for the test.

Tiwari contended that he could not be compelled by the court to undergo paternity test to ascertain the claim of petitioner Rohit Shekhar.

Earlier this year, Tiwari moved the Supreme Court against a high court order that dismissed his plea challenging the paternity suit filed by Shekhar.

In the high court, Tiwari contended that the paternity suit was filed by Shekhar 31 years after he was born with the objective of maligning him.
