Another day at Blagojevich trial with no verdict
CHICAGO — The tenth day of deliberations by jurors in the corruption trial of former Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich has ended with no verdict.
Judge James Zagel told attorneys earlier Tuesday he’s heard nothing recently from the jurors. The only way jurors may communicate with the judge is by sending him a note. The last note they sent was July 30.
Zagel indirectly addressed the anxiety those awaiting a verdict are feeling.
He told the court during a regular check-in by attorneys that, in his words, “We are all in exactly the same position. We are waiting.”
Blagojevich faces 24 counts, including charges of trying to sell or trade an appointment to President Barack Obama’s vacated Senate seat. He has pleaded not guilty.
