LONDON - Hollywood actor George Clooney was honoured for his philanthropic works at a function in New York.

The “Up In The Air” star attended the Ripple of Hope Awards at Chelsea Piers in Manhattan, where he was felicitated for his humanitarian work in Sudan.

Also present at the occasion was Clooneys father, Nick, and girlfriend Elisabetta Canalis, reports dailystar.co.uk.

Clooney has long campaigned for peace in Sudan. He filmed a documentary there in 2008 to chronicle the atrocities in the troubled Darfur region after the country was embroiled in civil war. The actor recently met US President Barack Obama to discuss the issue.
