Jurors in Blagojevich trial deliberate for 5th day

CHICAGO — Jurors have begun a fifth day of deliberations in the political corruption trial of former Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich and his brother, Tennessee businessman Robert Blagojevich.

A federal marshal at the courthouse in Chicago told reporters on Tuesday morning that jurors were back at work on the case. Several defense lawyers and prosecutors are among those hanging around the court nervously awaiting a verdict. Others are biding their time in the cafeteria.

There’s no way to know how close jurors are to a verdict or whether there are disputes among them.

Both Blagojevich brothers have pleaded not guilty to charges that accuse them of trying to sell or trade an appointment to President Barack Obama’s former Senate seat.
