Americans likely to file lawsuits against Dr. Death Patel

BRISBANE - An American family has slammed rogue Indian-origin surgeon Jayant Patel’s jail sentence in Queensland, saying they’ll campaign for US authorities to charge him when he gets out.
“What? Oh, that’s just wrong,” exclaimed a stunned Sandrah Ickert when involved that Patel would be eligible for release in three-and-a-half years.
Ms Ickert’s elderly mother, Marie Mesecher, died after Patel performed surgery on her in a Portland, Oregon, hospital in 1997 to remove a tumour.
Ickert’s sister, Susan Harding, also was left dumbfounded by the leniency of the Queensland legal system.
Patel was sentenced to seven years’ jail, but will be eligible for parole after serving three-and-a-half years.
“We are going to have to do something. I’m not going to stand for this,” said Ickert.
“They spent so many millions of dollars on this guy to take him back to Australia and paid for his apartment and food before the trial. He should have been in jail all of this time,” she added. (ANI)
