Lawsuit says Saints covered up stolen Vicodin
NEW ORLEANS — A lawsuit filed by the New Orleans Saints’ former security director accuses the club of trying to cover up the alleged theft of prescription pain pills from the team’s drug locker.
Former FBI agent Geoffrey Santini handled security for the Saints until 2009, when the suit says he resigned because of a disagreement over the team’s handling of the matter. He is seeking damages and back pay.
Saints spokesman Greg Bensel says the allegations are false and the club will aggressively defend itself in court.
The lawsuit filed late Friday was first reported by the Times-Picayune. It says Vicodin pills were improperly taken by two senior staff members who were not named in the lawsuit, which does not involve any players on the Super Bowl champions.
