Pa. woman can’t re-sue Ernst & Young for $103M

PITTSBURGH — A federal appeals court says a western Pennsylvania woman isn’t entitled to a new trial on her claim that an accounting error by Ernst & Young cost her $103 million.

The Pennsylvania Superior Court two years ago threw out a Butler County judge’s verdict in favor of Barbara Reilly. The judge found in 2003 that an accounting error wrongly cost the woman her share of a multimillion dollar real estate firm that filed Chapter 11 in the 1980s.

After the verdict was thrown out, a federal bankruptcy judge issued an order preventing Reilly from filing further lawsuits. The 3rd U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals upheld that decision Tuesday.

It was not immediately clear if Reilly, of Butler County, will appeal the latest decision.
