Justice Gogoi new Punjab and Haryana chief justice

CHANDIGARH - Justice Ranjan Gogoi was sworn in as the chief justice of Punjab and Haryana High Court here Saturday.
Gogoi was administered the oath of office by Haryana Governor Jagannath Pahadia at the Raj Bhawan here. He succeeds Mukul Mudgal, who retired Jan 3.
Punjab Governor Shivraj Patil, Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda and his Punjab counterpart Parkash Singh Badal, members of Gogoi’s family and judges of Punjab and Haryana High Court were also present at the ceremony
Gogoi was transferred to the Punjab and Haryana High Court here in September last year. He had begun his career in law practising at the Guwahati High Court and was elevated to the bench as a permanent judge in 2001.
After taking oath, Gogoi told reporters that he would work towards providing speedy justice to people.
