NEW DELHI - The central government Thursday told the Supreme Court that the department of telecommunication acted in public interest and on the basis of settled policy in the issuance of licences to telecom operators for 2G spectrum.

An affidavit filed by the government Thursday said no case was made out for an investigation into 2G spectrum allocation either by the Central Bureau of Investigation or by a special investigating team as pleaded by petitioner Centre for Public Interest Litigation.
