ISLAMABAD - The Supreme Court of Pakistan has rejected the list of 36 beneficiaries of the National Reconciliation Ordinance (NRO) presented by the government, and ordered it to submit the complete list on October 13.

The list, presented by the National Accountability Bureau’s Deputy Prosecutor General Amir Raja, did not have President Asif Ali Zardari’s name in it, but included that of Nusrat Bhutto, wife of late Prime Minister Zulfikar Ali Bhutto, the Dawn reported.

According to NAB insiders, the list was meant to give an impression to the court that the government was following its orders in the NRO case, and taking action against the beneficiaries.

On the other hand, during his visit to the railway ministry, Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani claimed, “We have not received the complete list so far.”

Earlier, following Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gilani’s statement in the Upper House asking the beneficiaries of the National Reconciliation Ordinance (NRO) to resign, President Asif Ali Zardari had reportedly finalised a list of functionaries who would be shown the exit door. (ANI)
