LONDON - An Indian environmental campaigner who climbed on top of the British Parliament last year in a climate change protest was set free as charges against him were dropped by a London court Wednesday.

Brikesh Singh was among 55 Greenpeace campaigners who scaled the Palace of Westminster in October 2009 and camped on the roof overnight ahead of global climate change talks in Copenhagen.

Most of the protesters were discharged by a London court but a few with previous convictions were fined, Singh said.

The campaigners hit the headlines by unfurling a rooftop banner saying ‘Change the politics, save the planet’.
