Stepdad of ex-punk boss’s PA faces contempt charge
NEW YORK — The stepfather of a personal assistant convicted of murdering her former punk-rock-pioneer boss is facing a contempt charge after making an outburst in New York City court.
Daniel Walsh was awaiting arraignment Monday on a criminal contempt charge. He had leaped from his seat Monday and angrily denounced a Manhattan judge for not letting his stepdaughter, Natavia (nuh-TAY’-vee-uh) Lowery, change lawyers.
Family lawyer Paul Brenner says Walsh is “very upset” about his stepdaughter’s conviction last month in the 2007 slaying of Linda Stein.
Stein co-managed the Ramones before becoming a real estate broker with a celebrity clientele.
Lowery’s sentencing had been set for Monday. It was postponed because a presentencing report wasn’t ready.
