Judge: Joe Jackson can get Jackson’s medical files

LOS ANGELES — A judge says Michael Jackson’s father can receive medical records related to his superstar son’s death.

Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Mitchell Beckloff ruled Friday that Joe Jackson can receive his son’s medical records from the hospital where he died on June 25.

Jackson’s attorney, Brian Oxman, sought the files as part of an effort to obtain a monthly stipend for the Jackson family patriarch. He said during a hearing last week that he also needs the records to decide whether to pursue a wrongful death lawsuit.

Jackson’s estate opposed releasing the records to Oxman and Joe Jackson.

Beckloff is limiting the release of records and requiring Oxman and any experts who review the files to sign confidentiality agreements.
