NEW DELHI - The National Commission for Women (NCW) Monday asked the information and broadcasting ministry to ensure that NDTV Imagine’s reality show “Rahul Dulhaniya Le Jayega” does not portray women in an indecent manner.

“We have sent a letter to the information and broadcasting ministry to ensure there is no indecent portrayal of women in the programme,” NCW chairperson Girija Vyas told reporters here.

Rahul Mahajan, son of the late Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Pramod Mahajan, will begin his quest for a bride on television starting Monday evening.

‘Rahul Dulhaniya Le Jayega’ is the second season of the channel’s ’swayamvar’ series and will be aired at 8 p.m. Monday to Friday and at 9 p.m. Saturday. The show will last for five weeks.

Rahul will choose from a total of 15 women who were selected after much scrutiny from over 16,000 applicants from across the country.

Last year, the show cast Rakhi Sawant, who chose Elesh Parujanwala as her groom.

Vyas said the rights body had also raised concerns during another show ‘Sach Ka Saamna’ aired on Star Plus last year.
