LAHORE - The Lahore High Court has extended Interior Minister Rehman Malik’s bail till February 25, while rejecting his plea seeking permission to not to appear before the court in person in connection with two National Accountability Bureau (NAB) cases.

Earlier, a division bench of the Lahore High Court had stayed execution of a three-year sentence awarded to Malik and had granted him bail till January 26.

Malik’s counsel, Chaudhry Mushtaq Ahmad Khan, had pleaded before the court that Malik was being politically victimised and was awarded the punishment in absentia without fulfilling legal requirements.

The court has also dismissed Malik’s petition seeking waiver of the sentence in cases concerning the yellow cab scam, The Dawn reports.

Malik had fled the country after the court had given a verdict against him in 2004. (ANI)
