LAHORE - Former Pakistan President General Pervez Musharraf has refused to comment of the Supreme Court’s judgement declaring the controversial National Reconciliation Ordinance ‘unconstitutional’, The Daily Times reports.

According to a private television channel, Musharraf said he would not comment on the issue until he reads the detailed verdict.

It must be mentioned here that it was Musharraf who had introduced the amnesty law in October 2007.

The NRO was the result of a deal brokered by the US and Britain that allowed former Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto to return to the country from exile Bhutto was assassinated in December the same year, following which Zardari led the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) to victory in the general elections held in February 2008.

Musharraf had to resign from the Presidency in August 2008 fearing impeachment, which saw Zardari stepping in. (ANI)
