Prosecutor: Accused teen mentioned Columbine

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. — A prosecutor says a teen accused in a potential plot against his western Colorado high school had sought information about explosives so he could “go Columbine” on his school.

Mesa County Deputy District Attorney Jeremy Savage said at a court hearing Tuesday that 18-year-old Robert Dell Johnson asked one person how to attain a bomb and another person how to obtain dynamite. Savage says Johnson also talked about Columbine High School, where two student gunmen killed 12 students, a teacher and themselves in 1999.

At the hearing, a judge declined to lower Johnson’s $100,000 bond. Johnson’s attorney had argued that Johnson has no adult criminal history.

Johnson is accused of plotting an attack at Palisade High School. He’s charged with criminal solicitation and interfering with an educational institution.
