Chef sues Saudi prince over onerous work schedule
LOS ANGELES — A chef is suing a Saudi Arabian prince, alleging that he routinely worked up to 14 hours a day with no overtime pay or time off at the prince’s Beverly Hills estate.
Pedro Gomez filed the lawsuit Wednesday against 69-year-old Prince Saud bin Faisal bin Abdul Aziz al Saud, his wife and daughter in Los Angeles Superior Court.
The prince could not be immediately reached for comment. He is the foreign minister of Saudi Arabia.
Gomez says he worked for the prince from 1999 to March 2009, when he was fired.
He says he prepared three meals a day for 30 people without meal breaks, rest periods or overtime pay.
