NEW DELHI - The Delhi High Court Wednesday directed Delhi Police to strictly implement the noise pollution norms, specially during the ongoing festive navratri season.

The court was hearing a public interest petition filed by lawyer Priyanka Aggarwal, who alleged that the noise pollution norms set by the apex court were not being followed by the organisers of functions held during the festival time.

Justice Sanjeev Khanna directed the police to check noise pollution and said: Please ensure that the (decibel) test is conducted properly. It should be a fair test as these days dandiya is on. Conduct the test on the other side of the road where people live.

The petitioner pointed out that a club in Panchsheel Park in south Delhi had been holding festival functions in violation of noise pollution norms set up by the apex court that restricts the use of loudspeakers and musical instruments between 10 p.m. and 6 a.m.
