Russia’s ‘porn king’ wants his movies back

Moscow, Jan 14 (IANS/RIA Novosti) A top porn movie producer in Russia - dubbed the “porn king” - has filed a complaint in a court demanding the return of more than 60,000 adult films made by his studio that are currently in the court’s possession.
The St. Petersburg court seized the adult movies made by Sergei Pryanishnikov during a search of his studio in 2006. The producer sent a request to return the movies in 2009. But, the movie discs were not returned by the court.
“Our position is clear: as they (the movies) are no longer material evidence, they should be returned to us,” Pryanishnikov’s lawyer Alexei Nachinkin said.
Pryanishnikov, 53, has been producing adult films since 1997. He was a candidate for the St. Petersburg governor in 2003, and promised to stage a “sexual revolution” to attract tourists.
St. Petersburg had become a major pornography hub after Pryanishnikov received a license to produce his movies, Moscow lawmaker Lyudmila Stebenkova said.
The top porn producer is also suing the Russian culture ministry for approving the content of his films, but then banning them for “indecent titles”.
Pryanishnikov dismissed the claims saying the titles were “quite normal” for that category of films.
He said his films were not broadcast in cinemas or on TV and were specifically meant for private viewing.
