Indians top list of non-Arab foreigners in Kuwait

DUBAI - People of Indian origin top the list of non-Arab foreigners living in Kuwait, official statistics show.

According to figures released by the Immigration General Administration, around 600,000 Indians lived in Kuwait till Nov 30, 2009, the Gulf News reported Tuesday.

Around 233,000 Indians - including 157,000 men and 76,000 women - worked as domestic help.

Indians are closely followed by Sri Lankans (84,000 people).

Bangladeshis come next with around 68,000 people, followed by the Filipino community (60,000).

According to the 2009 statistics, Kuwait’s population was 3.4 million, which included 2.3 million foreigners.
