NEW DELHI - The Delhi Development Authority Wednesday suspended an executive engineer for non-compliance of directions regarding two night shelter which were razed.

Executive Engineer Arif Ali was suspended for razing two fully functional night shelters without notice, putting the Delhi government and the civic authority in a tight spot in a court case related to shelters.

The DDA gave directions regarding the night shelters which he did not comply with, said DDA public relation officer Neemo Dhar, adding that the shelters were razed without prior notice.

The apex court took note of media reports on the demolition of these night shelters and asked the authorities to refrain from doing so till the cold abates.

On Tuesday, the DDA brought down a shelter near Kalkaji Metro station which was put up as an alternative to a night shelter demolished at a site near Nehru Place last week.
