Mexican immigration official quits after massacre

MEXICO CITY — Mexico’s top immigration has resigned in the wake of the massacre of 72 migrants at the hands of a drug cartel.

The Interior Department says Cecilia Romero stepped down as head of the National Institute of Migration.

The announcement Tuesday came less than a month after the bodies of the migrants were discovered at a ranch near the U.S. border.
