DeFarra Gaymon Murder Case Details

Atlanta, Georgia (GaeaTimes.com) DeFarra Gaymon, president and CEO of Credit Atlanta was allegedly shot by undercover police detectives on Friday, July 16, 2010. He was interviewed by the investigators the day before he was shot. He was 48 years old. He has left four children behind him. He was shot in the chest at around 6 p.m. on Friday.
DeFarra Gaymon was in Newark for a high school reunion. He was shot at Branch Book Park, which is commonly referred to as a meeting point for sexual activity. It is not exactly known why he had been there. Robert Laurino, County Prosecutor said that the detective was investigating about complaints about sexual activity occurring in public.
According to reports, DeFarra Gaymon was unarmed at the time he was shot. Police stated that he tussled with the detectives when they tried to arrest him. He was taken to the University Hospital but was pronounced dead shortly after 9 p.m. The pickup truck of DeFarra Gaymon was found parked near the scene of shooting. He was not in the vehicle when he was shot.
The name of the detective involved in the shooting is not yet known but it is reported that he is 29 years old and has been in the force for eight years. There are no reports of injury of the detective but he was medicated after the shooting. The detective is reported to be traumatized by the incident.
There had been nine shooting of this type in Newark this year, including this one. Six of the shooting proved to be fatal.
