Islamabad, July 23 (ANI): A day after the Lahore High Court (LHC) ordered a judicial inquiry into the broad daylight murder of two Christian brothers accused of blasphemy out side the Faisalabad court premises, an FIR has been lodged against the senior police officials who neglected directives regarding providing a full security cover to both men.
Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Ashique Ali Jatt and Superintendent of Police (SP) (investigation) Chaudhry Muhammad Haneef have been booked for ignoring higher authorities’ directives about providing protection to the two Christian brothers, The Daily Times reports.
Unidentified gunmen had shot dead Pastor Rashid Emmanuel and his brother Sajid, and also left their police escort critically wounded, as they were leaving the court after a hearing on Monday (July 19).
Earlier, acting on the Punjab government’s appeal, LHC Chief Justice Khwaja Mohammad Sharif appointed Faisalabad Labour Court District and Sessions Judge Sheikh Mohammad Yousaf to conduct an inquiry into the shocking incident. (ANI)
