Court rejects Lalit Modi’s plea to stay BCCI action

MUMBAI - The Bombay High Court Thursday rejected suspended Indian Premier League (IPL) commissioner Lalit Modi’s plea to stay the Board of Control for Cricket in India’s (BCCI) disciplinary proceedings against him.
The court, however, said that the “BCCI disciplinary panel should keep Modi’s objections in mind”.
Modi’s attorney Mehmood Abdi ducked answering any questions on the issue. “We will wait for the written copy of the court’s order and plan out next step accordingly,” Abdi told reporters.
Modi had on July 8 appealed to the court to appoint a mutually acceptable panel to consider the replies to the three show cause notices issued to him for alleged irregularities in the conduct of the IPL Twenty20 League.
The BCCI had suspended Modi April 25. He was given show cause notices April 26, May 6 and May 31.
