PANAJI - The Panaji bench of the Bombay High Court Thursday stayed an arrest warrant issued against an official of the Hindustan Coca Cola Beverages in a case related to alleged non-payment of provident fund dues.

The warrant was issued a complaint filed with the state provident fund department by an employee of the company.

In the complaint filed in 1997-98, Vallabh Prabhudessai alleged that his employer had not paid Rs.1 lakh in provident fund dues.

A warrant was later issued in the name of A. Pingle, vice president (Personnel), of Hindustan Coca Cola Beverages.

“The Panaji bench of the Bombay High Court has stayed the arrest warrant issued in Pingle’s name. We have told the court that the multinational company has paid the dues. Why will they keep back a few thousand rupees?” Pingle’s counsel S.M. Singbal asked while speaking to reporters.
