Jury convicts 4 men in huge London jewel heist

LONDON — A British jury has convicted four men of taking part in an armed robbery that netted 40 million pounds ($60 million) worth of gems from an upmarket London jeweler.

After 16 days of deliberations, jurors at London’s Woolwich Crown Court found Solomun Beyene and Clinton Mogg guilty Tuesday of conspiracy to rob.

The jury failed to reach a verdict on a fifth man. Two other men were convicted earlier.

The theft of rings, bracelets, necklaces and watches from Graff Diamonds on London’s posh Bond Street last August was one of the biggest heists in British history.

Police say two men, disguised with professional makeup, walked into the store, pulled out guns, briefly took an employee hostage and escaped with the jewels in a series of getaway cars.
