Key prosecution witness on stand at Blago trial

CHICAGO — A central figure in the case against former Gov. Rod Blagojevich may be on the stand all week.

Blagojevich’s last chief of staff, John Harris, is expected to testify again Tuesday after first climbing the witness stand Monday afternoon. Prosecutors say he could be there for at least the rest of this week.

Harris is testifying for leniency after pleading guilty to wire fraud in the case.

On Monday, he painted a picture of Blagojevich as a man willing to punish those who did not do his bidding.

Blagojevich has pleaded not guilty to all the charges again him, including scheming to sell or trade the U.S. Senate seat Obama gave up following his November 2008 election and racketeering.
