NEW DELHI - Union Law and Justice Minister M Veerappa Moily on Saturday hinted at the early transfer of Karnataka High Court Chief Justice P. D. Dinkaran.
Justice Dinakaran is in the center of controversies after facing impeachment proceedings for land grabbing charges.
Interacting with media, Moiy said the Supreme Court Collegium has already recommended for Justice Dinakaran’s transfer.
“The Supreme Court Collegium has sent a recommendation to the Union Law Ministry proposing transfer of Justice Dinakaran to the High Court of Sikkim and Chief Justice of Uttarakhand High Court Jagadish Singh Kher to Karnataka,” Moily said.
Justice Dinakaran has come under renewed attack from Justice D. V. Shylendrakumar of the Karnataka High Court for continuing to exercise administrative functions and staying away from the court proceedings.
The advocates of the High Court have also been demanding an early decision on Justice Dinkaran.
Meanwhile, Karnataka Law Minister S Suresh Kumar in a letter to Moily sought the Centre’s intervention to end the “unpleasant stalemate” in the High Court. (ANI)
