Change of custody denied for children of slain mom

LOS ANGELES — A judge refused Friday to take temporary guardianship away from the grandparents of two children whose mother was found slain in Mexico.

Superior Court Judge Mitchell L. Beckloff made the ruling in the case of the children of Bruce Beresford-Redman, a producer of the TV show “Survivor” who has been considered a suspect by Mexican investigators in the death of his wife Monica Beresford-Redman.

He has denied any involvement.

A lawyer for David and Juanita Beresford-Redman filed an ex-parte motion Thursday in which their son asked to resume parental responsibility.

Beckloff also refused a request by a sister of Monica Beresford-Redman for the children to attend a Sunday memorial service for their mother.

Beckloff said a therapist hired by the grandparents said it would not be in best interest of the children to attend such a service at this time.

The body of Monica Beresford-Redman was found April 8 in Cancun.
