Canseco appearance before Clemens jury postponed

WASHINGTON — Jose Canseco’s appearance before the federal grand jury investigating Roger Clemens has been postponed again.

Canseco was scheduled to testify Thursday before the panel that will decide whether to indict Clemens for lying under oath to Congress.

Canseco’s lawyer, Andrew Kirsh, said Tuesday that scheduling issues have forced another postponement. Kirsh said both sides were “trying to reach a date that will work for everyone” and that Canseco likely will testify in early June.

Canseco was originally scheduled to appear last month.

The grand jury is reviewing Clemens’ testimony before a congressional committee in 2008, when the seven-time Cy Young Award winner denied using steroids or human growth hormone.
