Health Care Vote Details

New York (GaeaTimes.com) The House will finally decide on the health care overhaul by voting this Sunday, March 21, 2010. There will be two separate bills on the Senate health care bill and the reconciliation ‘fix it’ bill. If both bills are passed by the House, the Senate Bill will be signed into law by President Obama. Then the vote on the reconciliation bill will be carried out. The votes have really come after a weekend of tensed negotiations and almost a year after Congress started to debate on the procedure to reform the health care systems in America.
In just a few days, a century-long struggle will culminate in a historic vote.
Said Obama
We’ve had historic votes before. We had a historic vote to put Social Security in place to make sure that our elderly did not live out their golden years in poverty. We had a historic vote in civil rights to make sure that everybody was equal under the law.
Some members who were thought to be crucial about the passage of health care reforms like Altmire, Teague and a few others were reported to be coming out against the bill. Allegedly, Peter DeFazio will cast a ‘no’ vote on the health care bill unless there is additional medical Medicare funding. But the Medicare funding would threaten deficit reduction in the reconciliation bill. The acrimonious issue of health care has turned off debate on any other issues in Washington and everyone is waiting for the results to come.
