ISLAMABAD - Despite being warned by the Supreme Court about the implementation of the NRO verdict, the Pakistani Law Ministry looks determined to block the reopening of Swiss corruption cases against President Asif Zardari and others.
According to The News, NAB chairman is facing the wrath of the Supreme Court for not implementing the two-month-old NRO verdict.
However, the Law Ministry headed by a close confidante of Zardari is sitting on the issue of reopening of foreign cases and is not responding to NAB’s request on the matter.
Sources said that after being warned by the Supreme Court, the NAB chairman approached the Law Ministry to take a decision on the Bureau’s pending request.
On Friday, the Supreme Court of Pakistan ordered NAB to reopen all the NRO cases without any exception, thus requiring cases against Zardari to be reopened unless he seeks to use his constitutional immunity. (ANI)
