Chris Brown back in court for probation update

LOS ANGELES — Chris Brown is back in court to offer a judge an update on his progress while serving probation for beating ex-girlfriend Rihanna.

Brown arrived in a Los Angeles courtroom Thursday afternoon for a routine hearing in the case. The R&B star was sentenced last year to five years of probation and six months of community labor for the February 2008 attack on Rihanna.

Brown is serving his probation in his home state of Virginia.

Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Patricia Schnegg has said she wants frequent updates about the 20-year-old’s progress.
