Habibullah not to take up Kashmir RTI post

NEW DELHI - Chief Information Commissioner Wajahat Habibullah, who resigned from his post last year to join the newly set up Jammu and Kashmir State Information Commission (JKSIC), has reportedly told state Chief Minister Omar Abdullah that he will not be able to take the post.
“Habibullah has told Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah that he will not be able to join the JKSIC as centre is not able to relieve him from his present post. He has asked Abdullah to look for someone else to let the things rolling for the new Right to Information (RTI) Act in the state,” sources said Sunday.
However, repeated attempts to confirm the development did not yield results.
Habibullah had resigned from his post October 2009 to head JKSIC on Abdullahs request. He would turn 65 this September, and thus get around seven months only to set up the RTI body in the state.
