GANDHINAGAR - A special court in Ahmedabad Friday accepted the state government’s application to hear all the cases of the Ahmedabad serial blasts together. The hearing is likely to begin Dec 18.
Special judge Bela Trivedi accepted the special public prosecutor Sudhir Brahmbhatt’s plea that the modus operandi in all the blasts had a striking similarity and even the accused in various cases were also the same, and that the cause of justice will not be served if all the cases are run separately since it will take a lot of time.
Accepting the plea, the court decided to run all the cases together.
Ahmedabad witnessed 20 serial bomb blasts July 26, 2008, in which more than 55 people were killed and 250 people were injured.
A total of 64 people have been arrested in connection with the blasts while 24 are absconding.
