Jury convicts NY man charged in double killing

ROCHESTER, N.Y. — A twice-fired nursing supervisor has been found guilty of killing a nurse and a passer-by during a Valentine’s Day rampage that left four people dead in western New York.

After three hours of deliberations Monday, a jury convicted Frank Garcia of first-degree murder in the Feb. 14 slayings of 23-year-old nurse Mary Silliman and 41-year-old Randal Norman, a motorist who intervened when he saw her being roughed up outside a Brockport hospital.

Garcia is already serving a life sentence for killing another former co-worker and her husband on the same day, about 50 miles away.

Investigators say Garcia targeted the women after their sexual harassment complaints led to him being fired from successive jobs.
