Fla. man indicted on charges he killed wife, kids

NAPLES, Fla. — A Florida man has been formally charged with killing his wife and five children last month by slitting their throats.

The State Attorney’s Office in Naples announced Wednesday that a grand jury indicted 33-year-old Mesac Damas for six counts of first-degree murder.

Authorities say the grill cook killed his 32-year-old wife, Guerline, and their children. Their bodies were discovered Sept. 19 in the family’s town house.

Authorities say Damas then flew to his native Haiti, where he was eventually arrested.

Court documents released this week said Damas admitted to the crimes, saying “bad spirits” made him do it.

He will be arraigned Oct. 26.
