Sentencing set in Fla. gang rape case

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. — Three people convicted in the gang rape attack on a woman and the beating of her young son will be sentenced.

Jakaris Taylor, 17, Tommy Poindexter, 20, and Nathan Walker, 18, could face life in prison at their sentencing hearing Tuesday.

They were convicted in August and September. All were teens at the time of the 2007 attack, but were charged as adults. A fourth suspect who pleaded guilty will be sentenced in December.

Authorities say the defendants barged into the then-35-year-old woman’s West Palm Beach apartment and raped her repeatedly with up to six other teens, then forced the woman to perform oral sex on her then-12-year-old son. Police say fingerprints and DNA identified the defendants.
