More fondling charges against California dentist
SAN JOSE, Calif. — A California dentist who pleaded no contest to inappropriately touching six patients now faces more serious charges.
A grand jury on Monday indicted 56-year-old Benva Lazar of San Jose on two counts of sexual battery by fraud and one count of lewd and lascivious acts on a girl. The new charges stem from allegations by a 14-year-old girl and a 40-year-old woman, both of whom told police that Lazar performed breast examinations on them.
Lazar’s attorney, Christian Picone, did not return a call for comment Tuesday.
In April, Lazar pleaded no contest to six misdemeanor battery charges involving six other patients who made similar accusations. A judge sentenced him to nine months in jail in that case.
The new felony charges carry a maximum sentence of eight years. His trial is scheduled to start Nov. 9.

This is such a sad subject to read about and a disgrace to the dentistry profession which is usually a highly respected one |
