Texas trial starts for NY man accused of killing 6

AUSTIN, Texas — A Texas prosecutor says jurors will have no doubt a New York man killed the daughter of his ex-girlfriend and another girl once they see all the evidence during the man’s trial.

Travis County prosecutor Gary Cobb began presenting his case in Austin on Monday at the capital murder trial Paul Devoe. Prosecutors say Devoe killed six people during a cross-country shooting spree in 2007, including his ex-girlfriend’s daughter, 15-year-old Haylie Faulkner, and Haylie’s 17-year-old friend, Danielle Hensley.

Devoe is being tried for the two girls’ deaths and has pleaded not guilty. Prosecutors are seeking the death penalty.

Authorities say Devoe also killed his ex-girlfriend and her boyfriend, a bartender and Pennsylvania woman.
