DENVER — Perjury charges have been filed against two men who police say were in an SUV when it was used in the drive-by shooting death of Denver Broncos cornerback Darrent Williams.

An indictment made public this week alleges Mario Anderson, 22, and Kataina “Markie” Jackson-Keeling, 21, lied to a grand jury. Each faces charges of perjury and attempting to influence a public servant.

Neither has been charged with shooting Williams, who was killed on New Year’s Day 2007.

Twenty-six-year-old Willie Clark has been charged with first-degree murder and other crimes in Williams’ death. Investigators are still pursuing a suspected second shooter.

The indictment was unsealed on Friday, but prosecutors waited until this week to release the public document because Jackson-Keeling had not been arrested. Anderson is free on $50,000 bail, while Jackson-Keeling was still at large Wednesday morning.

There were no phone numbers listed for either man and court records did not list attorneys.

Denver District Attorney Mitch Morrissey has said there was more than one shooter but that witnesses have been reluctant to talk to investigators. Two weapons, a .45-caliber handgun and a .40-caliber gun, were used in Williams’ slaying.

Morrissey’s office declined immediate comment Wednesday.

Authorities say that Williams and other players went to a club hours after their last game of the 2006-07 season and got into an altercation with another group that included Clark. Prosecutors contend Clark fired shots into the limousine from an SUV.

An indictment unsealed in October said a witness told them Jackson-Keeling was in the front passenger seat next to Clark, who was driving, while Anderson was in the back seat behind Clark when shots were fired into the limousine carrying Williams and 16 other people.

Both men told a detective they were not in the SUV at the time of the shooting and later repeated that claim to a grand jury, according to the indictment released Tuesday.

Anderson told investigators that he would be harmed if he spoke about the shooting, while Jackson-Keeling said he feared for his life.

Clark and two other men face first-degree murder charges in the slaying of a witness, Kalonniann Clark, in December 2006 in an unrelated case.

Kalonniann Clark, who is not related to Willie Clark, had been scheduled to testify in a drug case in 2005 when she was shot outside a nightclub. She survived that attempt on her life and was scheduled to testify against her alleged attacker when she was killed a day before a pretrial hearing.
