RANCHI - An Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer in Jharkhand, who was arrested for not complying with a court order, was let off by the Jharkhand High Court Wednesday after he tendered an unconditional apology.

Justice D.N. Patel warned Sahebganj district Deputy Commissioner K. Ravi Kumar and disposed of the contempt of court case against him.

On the court’s directions, Kumar was arrested Tuesday night. He was presented before the court Wednesday afternoon.

In June 2007, the court had directed Kumar to appoint a peon within three months. He, however, did not do so even after two years.
