Karnataka High Court upholds iron ore export ban

BANGALORE - The Karnataka High Court Friday upheld the state government’s ban on export of iron ore.
Chief Justice J.S. Khehar and Justice S. Abdul Nazeer dismissed petitions by around 40 mine operators challenging the ban imposed by the B.S. Yeddyurappa government July 26.
The government ustified the ban, saying it will check rampant illegal mining in the state. The two judges gave the government six months time from Thursday to put in place regulatory measures to check illegal mining.
