BHUBANESWAR - Work at the revenue and judicial courts in western Orissa was paralysed Wednesday as lawyers struck work demanding a high court bench in the region.

“The lawyers under the banner of Western Orissa Bar Association (WOBA) launched the strike in about 11 of the state’s 30 districts, Niranjan Tripathy, president of central action committee (CAC) of WOBA, told IANS.

“The strike will continue Thursday,” he said, adding that the lawyers would intensify their protest if their demand was not met.

The lawyers have been demanding a high court bench in the region to enable people to get speedier justice.
