Munda appeals for peace ahead of Ayodhya verdict

RANCHI - Security has been beefed up in Jharkhand ahead of the Ayodhya verdict Friday. While six districts have been put on high alert, Chief Minister Arjun Munda has appealed to people to maintain peace.
“We appeal to people to maintain peace and communal harmony. People should not give importance to rumours,” Munda told reporters here Thursday. “Police officials have been asked to remain alert and keep vigil to maintain peace in the state.”
According to sources at the police headquarters, policemen’s leave has been cancelled. District police chiefs have been directed to take suitable and preventive measures to avoid any untoward incidents.
Around 60,000 personnel of the Rapid Action Force (RAF), paramilitary forces and state police will be deployed in sensitive areas. The control rooms will function 24 hours.
According to sources in the government, six districts — Ranchi, Jamshedpur, Hazaribagh, Bokaro, Palamau and Dhanbad — have been put on high alert.
The verdict in the Ramjanmabhoomi-Babri Masjid title suit is to be delivered by the Lucknow bench of the Allahabad High Court Friday.
