Blagojevich die-hards the kind he’d want on jury
CHICAGO — Rod Blagojevich, the ousted governor of Illinois, has been getting support during his nearly two-month corruption trial from a small but dedicated band of fans.
One, 78-year-old May Farley, stands outside with a placard reading, “Rod’s not cuckoo.”
Farley says she’s only grown fonder of Blagojevich as a portrait has emerged at trial of him as greedy and foul-mouthed.
Blagojevich surely hopes there’s such a sympathizer among the jurors who begin a fourth day of deliberations Monday.
Defense attorney Sam Adam Sr. says he saw signs of sympathy on some jurors’ faces. But political scientist Dick Simpson doesn’t think Blagojevich’s powers to charm will outweigh evidence.
Blagojevich has pleaded not guilty to all charges.
